A new County Captain in our midst
I'm delighted to inform that one of our very own lady members, namely Lorna Hall, has been instated as the new Hertfordshire Ladies' County Captain. Lorna took over the official title of H.C.L.G.A. County Captain in November and will serve a two year term and I'm sure she'll be a huge success. I'm sure, like me, you'd like to wish her the very best of luck and every success in her new role and I'm sure she'll be a great ambassador for both Hertfordshire and Ashridge alike.
I can't believe it's December already! Christmas is fast approaching so I would like to remind you to please place any orders with us within the coming week. This is so we can guarantee we can get any gifts to you before Christmas Day. All the manufacturers become very busy with orders at this time of year so extra time is needed to avoid disappointment!
Also if you are thinking of taking advantage of the Titleist FREE customisation ball offer they must be ordered in store by Sunday 7th December because I will be sending this order to Titleist on the morning of Monday 8th so we can guarantee delivery.
Professional's Winter Draw
I'm delighted to tell you that my Winter Draw board is now in the Pro Shop. As always, there will be some truly superb prizes on offer so if you'd like to enter, please come in early to bag your favourite or lucky numbers!
Sunice Gore-Tex Suits
I will soon be taking delivery of some fantastic new Sunice Albany Gore-Tex jackets and trousers. These suits are the best of the best in terms of what a waterproof suit can offer you. The Gore-Tex material is fully water resistant and Sunice are so confident that they will not leak they offer a lifetime warranty!! The suits are not cheap however coming in at around £549.99. To help you understand why Gore-Tex is so good we are also getting in some Demo jackets in Medium, Large and Extra Large so you can really feel the benefit please feel free to come in and give them a go.
This is the last suit you will ever need to wear!
Callaway X2 Hot Fairways
Please note that ALL X2 Hot fairway woods which I currently hold in stock and which were once retailing at £189.99, are now just 99.99, and this includes a brand new headcover.
New Under Armour men's and ladies'clothing
I now have displayed in the shop, all of my men's and ladies' Under Armour autumn/winter clothing. If you've had Under Armour winter clothing before, you will know that their clothing is really designed to help keep you nice and warm, is of a great quality and also feels really great when worn. In particular, I'd like to draw your attention to the new men's Knock Down jacket with Prima Loft. These are a casual jacket - though you can play golf in one - and come in either black, light or dark grey - and are supremely warm whilst still being relatively thin. Great for both golf and casual wear.
New self-service Grip Bar
Fresh in this week is my fantastic new Grip Bar. This allows you to see the kind of grips that we offer to replace your old, worn grips on your clubs and you’ll be able to see just what a difference a new grip makes in terms of feel and your ability to hold the club properly because I have a selection of different grips, all on shafts, available for you to try. But the most fascinating part of my Grip Bar is that you can measure your hand to see what size grip is best suited to you. For example, did you know that Nick Faldo used to have twelve layers of tape under the grip on his left hand yet only eight layers of tape under his right? So you can see just how personal and vital it is to have the correct grips and grip size. Please pop in and check out my new Grip Bar!
Glenmuir, men's club logoed cotton/cashmere sweaters and gift box
If you're looking for a really great Christmas present, please check out the front table of the Pro Shop where I have a terrific display of men's cotton/cashmere ¼ zip sweaters. These lovely garments come in black, navy or charcoal and come with a super presentation box that will make for a truly lovely Christmas gift. I also have on the table some packs of men's and ladies' Glenmuir socks which have three pairs of socks in for just £11.99 which make for a great stocking filler. But hurry, because sizes are limited and at this price, they're sure to disappear quickly!
New winter wheels
Not only do I have Powakaddy's very own model of winter wheels, but I now also have some winter wheels from Masters which will replace your current trolley wheels and are both different in design and slightly cheaper. These wheels are made with the raised "pimple" design, are street legal around Ashridge and cost £64.99!
And speaking of great grip…
With the softer, wetter conditions now underfoot, now is the time for you to change out of your soft spiked shoes and instead have metal spikes for the winter period. In my opinion, metal tipped spikes give better grip and are easier to both keep clean as well as ridding any debris. Pop in to the Pro Shop and in most cases, we should be able to change these spikes fairly quickly for you.
New Masters wheeled travel covers
Several of you have been asking me for "wheeled" travel covers and I'm pleased to tell you that I now have several available in the Pro Shop. These covers obviously have wheels on them which makes it much easier to transport your clubs around so rather than carrying your bag, you can simply wheel it behind you. And because these travel covers retail at £37.99, they represent really good value too!
Don't lose grip this winter...
It's becoming wetter and more slippery out there so my best advice is to change your golf shoe spikes from the plastic soft spikes to the old-fashioned metal spikes. I find the soft spikes tend to clog up more and give less grip and are far more difficult to keep clear of debris whereas the traditional metal spikes can be kept clear of leaves, mud and grass much more easily and, with a scrape or two of a tee peg or pitch mark repairer, are ready to give you good grip.
