Captain's Day Mixed Foursomes
Saturday saw the start of the Captain's Weekend action and what a lovely day it turned out to be as 42 pairs showed up for the Mixed Foursomes and leading the way with a quite stunning score was the pair of Ed & Anne Tenison who smoked round the course in 43 points! Alan & Jan Ledger then finished in second place on countback from Roger & Sheila Smith, both couples finishing on 36 points.
Captain's Day Men's Stableford
And on Sunday, the good weather again returned and this time, 96 players took to the course and it was Peter Makower who played some superb golf by finishing with 40 points to win the Captain's Prize. Second place was secured by Cameron Doogan with an excellent return of 38 points and third was taken by Charlie Aylwin on countback, Charlie returning a fine score of 37 points.

Junior Summer Golf Classes
I'm very pleased to say that my Junior Summer Golf Classes are again being held this year. There are two weeks of classes and the first week runs from Monday 14th July to Friday 18th July inclusive and the second week runs between Tuesday 26th August to Friday 29th August inclusive. Each day begins at 9am and lasts until 10:45am and is a great way for kids to get some good, old-fashioned fresh air and exercise! So, if you'd like your child/grandchild to participate, please stop by the Pro Shop, collect a form and return it with your cheque. But please hurry because spaces are limited and I've already had several reservations!
I don’t know about you but the regular “lead-acid” batteries don’t seem to last very long these days, so the answer is simple: a brand new lithium battery. These batteries are so good in so many ways and the benefits over a lead-acid are numerous, such as, they will recharge in about three hours, you will get about five times more life out of a lithium than a lead-acid, they’re more powerful and they’re incredibly light! And at £199.99 , they will also come with a brand new charger and a fantastic two year unlimited warranty and a five year limited warranty. So for further details, please pop into the Pro Shop.
New Under Armour and Greg Norman club logoed shirts
If you haven't already seen these fantastic shirts, I'm pleased to tell you that I have just received some beautiful and high quality shirts from both Under Armour and Greg Norman. Both companies have club logoed the shirts for me and there are some striking designs and colours so if you'd like to find a great gift for Fathers' Day or you'd simply like to freshen up your wardrobe, you know where to come!
R & A and the anchoring debate
If you haven’t already seen the news, I have a link to the R & A website that will allow you to see in pictures, just what they declare “anchoring” is and isn’t. How they’ll enforce it though, is anyone’s guess!
Waterproof cart bags
There's definitely a trend towards waterproof golf bags and I'm certainly selling more of these so I'm pleased to tell you that I now have in stock some really super waterproof bags. These 14 way organiser bags come in a very inoffensive black colour, are fairly lightweight and will fit onto just about every electric trolley and just as importantly, they're about £40 or £50 cheaper than other well-known brands. So if you're thinking about a new waterproof trolley bag, you know where to come.

I have just taken delivery of the superb ¼ zip Callaway merino sweater and these sweaters are absolutely beautiful. They have the softest of feels against the skin, come in light grey, light blue, petrol blue or black and are NOT club logoed which means they can be worn anywhere. Callaway Golf special offers
My annual Callaway Golf Demo Day last Saturday was a huge success and I'd like to thank everyone who attended and placed an order. If you are unaware, there are still a couple of great offers which you can view below:
But don't leave it too long as these offers will expire soon!
Click here to visit my website and learn more about the offers I have at the moment.
And finally, I now have a new assistant in the Pro Shop in the shape of Tom Butler. Tom has worked for me before and, as a member of the club, knows exactly what's what and how things are done so I'm looking forward to Tom starting officially from the 1st July, although he will be working several days in June.
At this point, I'd also like to thank my other assistant, Stuart Hall, for all his hard work, efforts and commitment whilst we've been a man down. As many of you will know, the Pro Shop is open 77 hours a week so manning that is extremely difficult when there's three of us, let alone two of us, and Stuart has been absolutely superb in helping out and has never failed to be "available". So thanks Stuey - you've been a real star!
Let your head move with the shot
One of the worst tips you'll ever get is "Keep your head down". This is a throwaway line that club golfers use with each other and keeping your head down actually causes more harm than good. So the next time you're playing, allow your head to turn with the downswing and let your head move with your shoulders and body as you turn into a fully unwound finish.
